Jennifer Owens Joins Ann Arbor SPARK’s Business Development Team

November 30, 2009

On December 7, Jennifer Owens will join Ann Arbor SPARK as its new vice president, business development.  In this role, Owens will support efforts to attract and retain new businesses to the Ann Arbor region.

“Jennifer’s experience in economic development is an asset that directly supports Ann Arbor SPARK’s efforts to expand the region’s economy,” said Michael A. Finney, Ann Arbor SPARK’s CEO.  “As we continue to look at ways to bring new business to our region and expand those businesses already calling Ann Arbor home, experienced leadership like Jennifer’s provides a distinct competitive advantage.”

Owens has more than 10 years experience in economic development, marketing and communications.  Prior to joining Ann Arbor SPARK, Owens served as the Michigan Economic Development Corp’s (MEDC) vice president of Michigan retention and growth.  In this role, Owens led a team of business development managers responsible for helping Michigan businesses maintain and expand facilities.

During her tenure with MEDC, she also served as managing director of business marketing and vice president of communications.
Owens received a bachelor of arts in journalism from Michigan State University.

Owens replaces Vince Nystrom, Ann Arbor SPARK’s previous vice president, business development.  Nystrom is joining the University Research Corridor, an economic development partner of Ann Arbor SPARK.
