Kim Thompson to Lead Rehabilitation Center at Glacier Hills

ANN ARBOR, MI – Glacier Hills’ President & CEO Ray Rabidoux is pleased to announce the selection of Kim Thompson as Executive Director of its Care and Rehabilitation Center. Kim succeeds Sally Schaden, who has transitioned to a newly created position within the organization. “I am very familiar with the role Glacier Hills has played in providing exceptional care and partnership with the regional senior community,” said Ms. Thompson. “Naturally, I am excited to experience first-hand the excellent rehabilitation facilities and care at Glacier Hills.”  image

With nine years of long-term care behind her, Ms. Thompson takes special pride in achievements over more than four years as Administrator of the 120-bed facility, Tendercare of Adrian. The property included in-patient therapy and a secured unit for treatment of dementia care. During her tenure, the facility became the provider of choice and employer of choice in Lenawee County. She was the recipient of the 2006 Tendercare Facility of Excellence Award. Also, it enjoyed aggressive growth (more than 70%) in its resident population, with both impressive records of efficiency and improvement in resident satisfaction scores. Prior to that position, she spent four years as Business/Finance Manager-Accountant for The Gilbert Residence (Ypsilanti, MI) until 2004.

For the past year, Kim has managed new construction for the state-of-the-art Okemos Health and Rehabilitation Center (Okemos, MI) as well. She was selected from among a competitive group of candidates to open one of Governor Granholm’s FIDS projects (Facility Innovative Design). It included 100 private rooms, 2000 square feet of therapy space, grounds and services for in-patient and outpatient use to ensure best quality care for a mixed resident base of 75% Medicare/Managed Care and 25% private pay/Medicaid.

An Ann Arbor native and an alumna of the University of Michigan (B. A., Psychology, with concentration in Human Physiology, Learning and Memory, and Sensory Perception), Kim brings exceptional leadership experience to the CRC. Her background includes success developing strong resident and employee satisfaction, culture change and nursing care excellence within the for-profit and non-profit sectors. This offers Glacier Hills the best of both worlds. While Kim’s true joy is caring for people, her business acumen and skills to exceed strategic goals is a wonderful addition to the Executive Team.
