Fry, Inc. to Upgrade PetEdge

June 2, 2009 — Fry, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCRS) and a leading e-commerce solutions provider, announced the upgrade of sites built for PetEdge (www.petedge.com), a leading wholesale source servicing independent pet retailers, dog groomers and other pet care professionals for over 50 years.

Fry has provided a number of services to PetEdge including e-commerce platform development, information architecture, engineering, and on-going application support and hosting, since PetEdge’s launch on Fry’s Open Commerce Platform (OCP) in 2007. Fry will upgrade www.petedge.com and www.petedgedealerservices.com to OCP 3.0 by summer 2009.

The upgrade consists of changes to the code base, allowing PetEdge to enable specific functionality according to its business goals. The usability improvement of OCP’s Site Manager, a suite of tools used to maintain the sites, will be the most significant improvement. Designed for non-technical business users, the Site Manager provides an efficient, user-friendly process for changing or uploading content, promotions and products.

“We originally selected Fry’s OCP for its state-of-the-art technology and multi-site capabilities,” said Mark Pepin, e-commerce director for PetEdge. “The platform has enabled PetEdge to offer our customers a richer and more relevant onsite experience than our previous e-commerce site. We are excited to take advantage of the ongoing improvements Fry has made to the platform in terms of usability and merchandising. The improvements are well aligned with our strategies to offer a more compelling, targeted and intelligent online experience.”

PetEdge’s upgraded Site Manager will include an updated look and feel, improved user experience and Web 2.0 interface to make it easier to conceptualize the experiences it builds for its customers. Other improvements include collapsible and stacked pane menus, “drag and drop” capabilities, site preview and the ability to schedule cross sells and upsells based on most commonly purchased products. Enhancements to search engine optimization and email templates are also part of the upgrade.

“In addition to making improvements to customer-facing features, Fry is continuously improving the internal features of our platform to enable companies to better manage and maintain their web site,” said David Fry, President of Fry. “By doing so, we give companies like PetEdge the ability to further enrich their online channels.”
