(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — In an effort to simplify its client’s data center move experience, managed data center operator Online Tech (www.onlinetech.com) has launched “Rack&Stack,” a new turnkey rack installation service designed to eliminate the hassle of moving servers to its Michigan colocation facilities.
Online Tech will design the entire data center rack layout, install the servers, wire the rack and power up the equipment, all for a single, fixed price, according to the company’s announcement this week.
Turning its focus nationwide, Online Tech hopes Rack&Stack will help companies coast to coast move their operations to Online Tech’s Michigan data centers, where client data can benefit from the cooler weather and low risk of natural disasters. Rack&Stack complements Online Tech’s set of turnkey colocation solutions, which let clients install, manage and monitor their colocated servers without physically entering the data center.
“As we expand our reach into the national market, it has become more important to deliver turnkey, hassle free services to our clients,” Online Tech president Mike Klein said in a statement. “With the new Rack&Stack service, our clients never have to set a foot in the data center. They ship the servers to our data center and we take care of the rest.”
The industry has already shown interest in Rack&Stack, with scrap-booking and craft shop Colorbök (www.colorbok.com) becoming among the first companies to move its operations to Online Tech’s data center using the new service.
“Keeping our core infrastructure available and operating is critical to our operations. Our upcoming colocation move of our servers made me very nervous,” Colorbök IT director Scott Genereaux said in a statement.
“Online Tech assisted with the upfront planning and helped make our move a seamless, simple process. They laid out the entire rack and wiring before the move, installed all of the equipment, and finished with a rack that was much better laid out, wired, and documented than we had before the move.”
