October 14, 2008 — Fry, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of MICROS Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MCRS) and leading e-commerce solutions provider, today announced it has been selected to design and develop a new e-commerce Web site for Hastings Entertainment, Inc., a leading multimedia entertainment retailer with a prodigious assortment of new and used books, videos, music and games products. The newly designed site will feature an enhanced customer experience with easier browsing and buying capabilities on the site.
Hastings Entertainment’s online storefront will be built using Fry’s Open Commerce Platform(TM) (OCP), an e-commerce solution that enables retailers to develop an online store and create or expand their e-commerce business. With OCP, the new Hastings Entertainment site will include flexible merchandising and promotional tools such as cross sells and product reviews.
“Our goal is to offer customers the convenience of online shopping and the service of a retail store,” said Owen Marmaduke, Director of ECommerce, of Hastings Entertainment. “With the new Hastings Entertainment storefront, we want to offer a distinct online shopping experience that could only come from the Hastings brand and drive more user interaction with the site.”
The relaunched site will provide a stronger connection between the in- store and online customer experience with new checkout options for customers who wish to place pre-orders for upcoming new products.
“Hastings Entertainment is a company with a strong track record in the multimedia retail industry, and this is a great opportunity for us to build its online brand awareness and online shopping experience,” said David Fry, President of Fry, Inc. “We’re excited to partner with Hastings Entertainment to grow its e-commerce site as a leading destination for multimedia entertainment products.”
