Ypsilanti, Mich., Aug. 18, 2008 - Dunkin’ Donuts, the largest coffee and baked goods chain in the world, announces the Grand Opening of its first store in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The celebration is set for Saturday, August 23 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the new restaurant, 608 South Hewitt Road, located at the corner of Hewitt and Ellsworth roads.

The event themed “Healthy Start with DD SMART,” kicks off with fitness demonstrations from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by fire safety demonstrations and fire truck tours courtesy of the Ypsilanti Township Fire Department. The celebration will also include an appearance from PAWS, the official mascot of the Detroit Tigers from noon to 1:00 p.m. The first 100 customers to visit the restaurant will receive a free small cup of freshly brewed hot coffee.

“As newcomers to the area, we thought what better way to meet our neighbors than to host a party,” said Jason Hayes, general manager of Dunkin’ Donuts, Ypsilanti. “This will be a fun-filled day as we look forward to meeting our community and sharing the celebrations of our new store.”

In addition to the grand opening celebration, the Dunkin’ Donuts in Ypsilanti is making everyone’s palette a little sweeter with weekly specials.

The highly anticipated state-of-the-art restaurant is open 24 hours with a drive-thru and offers customers hot and iced coffee, espresso drinks, breakfast sandwiches, baked goods, the new oven toasted flatbread sandwiches and a variety of menu items.

The restaurant employs 40 crew members and seats 26 customers. The restaurant’s design, reminiscent of the company’s roots that date back over 55 years, combines contemporary features to infuse Dunkin’ Donuts with a new, modernized appearance. The new restaurant features advanced equipment to meet the demands of today’s busy customers seeking high-quality food and beverage choices quicker and better than ever before, resulting in an improved overall in-store and drive-thru experience.
