Ann Arbor SPARK Announces June Events

Ann Arbor SPARK will be hosting and supporting six educational, entrepreneurial and talent networking events in June ranging in topics from a 21st Century Jobs Fund update to marketing ROI and talent matching. All events except Startup Weekend and Hot Shots will be held at SPARK Central, 330 East Liberty Street, Lower Level in downtown Ann Arbor. Registration is available online at www.AnnArborUSA.org/events and is required for some events.

June 4 - MEDC’s 21st Century Jobs Fund 2008 Business Plan Competition Update
Ann Arbor SPARK’s Pre-Seed Fund Executive Director Skip Simms will be giving an update on the 21st Century Jobs Fund Competition. He will be joined by LeAnn Auer, MVCA; David Haviland, Shepherd Advisors and Phil Tepley, SBTDC. The event begins at 5 p.m. There is no cost to attend.

June 5 - Mingle & Match
This event is for those interested in joining an early stage start-up. Entrepreneurs will pitch their business ideas and then meet with attendees in a structured networking process that includes submitting a preference card for those companies that attendees would like to get to know further. If you would like to submit a business idea, please send a one paragraph description of the concept to Amy@AnnArborUSA.org. The event is from 5-7 p.m. There is no cost to attend.

June 10 - Marketing Roundtable: Return on Marketing Investment: Get the Most Bang for the Buck
Business owners, executives, marketing communicators, brand managers and entrepreneurs can join the area’s top marketing professionals as they discuss how behavioral marketing techniques measure desired customer behaviors, and tie them back to specific media and messaging stimuli. Registration and networking is from 5-5:40 p.m. and the program is from 5:40-7 p.m. There is no cost to attend.

June 11 - BioArbor: Assembling the Right Team at the Right Time
In collaboration with MichBio, BioArbor hosts educational networking events for the life sciences industry in the greater Ann Arbor area. The panel will discuss how to build the right management team for your start-up company. Networking begins at 5 p.m. and the program begins at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend.

June 20-22 - Ann Arbor Startup Weekend
Startup Weekend recruits a highly motivated group of developers, business managers, startup enthusiasts, marketing gurus, graphic artists and more to a 54 hour event that builds communities, companies and projects. The event is from 6 p.m. on June 20 to 10 p.m. on June 22. The event costs $40. More information and registration is available at http://annarbor.startupweekend.com/. Note that this event takes place at Liberty Square, 510 E. Washington in Ann Arbor.

June 25 - Hot Shots: Career Connections at Vinology
In collaboration with Chambers of Commerce of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti, Eastern Michigan University, The University of Michigan, Washtenaw Community College and Washtenaw County’s Department of Employment Training and Community Services, this event is for talent seeking opportunities for themselves.
